These are the final pieces for the freerange show in June.

The Freerange show, my work is hanging to the left of the photo, with James Andersons sculptures in the foreground. The show was such a good experience and was loads of fun to do, a big thank you to Laura, Fiona, Nick and James for putting lots of your time and effort into it.

This is my latest on going piece, hopefully will be ready for the assessment and degree show. Its my biggest sized canvas 1.4 x 2 m
Here is the last piece but finished. I think the background should be more blue in colour but otherwise i think its how i want my final degree pieces to look.

this piece is 1m x 1.5 m. i'll be painting over this eventually, but i think the intial pouring of the medium is interesting as it is. The oil paint seperates and collects in different places on the canvas when it dries.

these paintings are experient pieces, only 80 x 60 cm. i have tried out painting oils on top of the medium. this is something im going to persue for final paintings for the degree show but bigger!!!

This is my latest working progess, still undecided whether to pour the lukas medium over it.

This is a detail from a piece of work i didn't think worked, so i poured lukas medium on it anyway, and the oil piant i mixed with it seperated, thought it works really nicely!

Thursday 5 March 2009

Here i have used a variety of mark making with oil paint and lukas medium. i used brushes, palette knifes, catering pipe and pouring. This is the first painting where I abstracted the components of my earlier figurative work.

These paintings were the starting point for my 3rd year degree project. They have allowed me to explore a more experimental painting style. Studying the movement, textures, shapes and colours of jellyfish has enabled me to see the potential for more abstracted work.
